Our Son Has Graduated
Yesterday we attended Jonathan's high school graduation. His girlfriend got their early and saved us (parents, grandparents, Rachel, Teresa, and Marsha) seats in the front and center. I put the big flash and the 800mm lens on my camera, and was able to get photographs on stage... which reminds me, I need to download the photos off my camera. There were 235 students graduating, so the ceremony was not too long. The band played and the orchestra sang. It was pretty nice. I had not been to a graduation since I graduated from college. It was funny to hear that they still play the same music as we did in high school. I guess some things are just too good to change :-). Last Full Day at BC
After seven years, I have finally decided to change companies. The last three years have been very taxing. I had been hoping that my promotion to a management position in marketing would help my work/life balance, but it went the other way. So, I decided I needed to look for something else. I have changed to half-time for December as I look for another position. I also will be getting some things done around the house :-). Matt has been a really great through all this. I look forward to finding a place that I can contribute to and have a good family life at home. Current Mood: relieved | | Monday, November 19th, 2007 | | 10:38 am |
In Denver Today
Matt and I have flown out to Denver to meet up with my sister, Teresa. We are going to watch the Denver Broncos vs. the Tennessee Titans tonight. It will be the first time we have attended a professional football game. Our tickets are in the upper section. Look for us on TV! LOL! Tomorrow we are going to head to Wyoming to visit Teresa's and my parents. I was last out here in 2005. I hope it is a good visit. I see the folks about once a year, usually in Las Vegas, where Teresa lives. Flights are much less expensive to Vegas. We rented a GPS while here. It is pretty good so far. We have found that you can still get confused at intersections with a lot of streets coming off of it. Can't just turn off your brain. Matt has the amusing habit of talking back to the GPS. Anyway, we are about to head to breakfast! Current Mood: happy | | Wednesday, November 14th, 2007 | | 9:07 am |
Second Anniversary
The last two years of my life have been as wonderful as can be. I met Matt for dinner two years ago tonight, and we have not been apart since. My love for him grows stronger every day, and I am so thankful for the joy and support he brings to my life. I love you, sweetie! Football Pictures Posted
I took some pictures at what might be Jonathan's (number 65) last high school game on Friday. It was Senior Night, and I got pictures of Jonathan with his mom and dad ( mstutts) during the ceremony. I took a couple of hours this weekend to process the pictures and get them online. I am finally getting the hang of the Gallery software that I installed on my web site. Some of the site is still messy, but I will get it cleaned up over time. I have a lot of pictures I have not processed and posted this year. I also just installed Photoshop CS3, which has a much improved Camera RAW processor. Someday I will go back and reprocess all my old photographs . Training in San Jose
I have been in San Jose all week in training. I learned about Interwoven TeamSite. The class was pretty good. The last day was pretty tough because a lot of things went wrong with the labs, so it ended kind of tense. It is over now, and my brain has a bit more information in it! I will be training people at work how to use it in the near future. I will be taking a day tour of San Francisco tomorrow. Can't wait to take a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge. Woo Hoo! I miss my sweetie, though. I will be glad to get back home . I just posted a couple of photographs my tripod took of me. Current Mood: chipper | | 9:03 am |
Number 1 Songs
According to This Day in Music, the number 1 song on my birthday was Daydream Believer by The Monkees. On my 18th birthday, it was Broken Wings by Mr Mister. Current Mood: amused | | 8:56 am |
New Management Position
I have not yet mentioned that I was promoted to a management position six weeks ago! I really like the new job. I am still transitioning from the old job, though, which is making it a little rougher. Most of those loose ends should be wrapped up after the "September application release weekend." I will be glad when I can fully concentrate on my new career path. I am currently looking over resumes for two designer/programmer jobs I have open on the team. If you know of anyone who might be interested, ask me about it, and I will send you details of the position! | | Monday, December 4th, 2006 | | 10:22 pm |
39... well it took long enough! Thanks to all for the great surprise birthday party last night! I really was surprised. After unexpected guests 4 and 5 showed up, I finally got it. Of course, Calvin holding what appeared to be a covered cake kind of tipped me off, too :-). A special kiss to my sweetie, Matt, for bringing it all together. It was wonderful! Food, friends, good times, and love who could ask for more?
Hugs to Brian and Dan for cleaning up the yard, and everyone who brought food, drinks, and funny stories. I got to meet some new friends too. It was quite a night!
So what can I say about turning 39? I don't feel any older than I did 20 years ago, and I take that as a good thing :-). Life has been getting better and better over the last many years, and I am very grateful for that. I look forward to all the good years ahead.
If I had any "sage advise" for "youngsters" it would be to really get to know yourself, then be yourself, and never stop learning, growing, and improving. Love you! Current Mood: happy | | Saturday, November 11th, 2006 | | 4:42 am |
Progress on the House Matt I closed on our new house a few weeks ago, and are fixing the place up to move in. We are making progress, but it is really slow. We have had four "paint parties" in the last week, but there is still so much to do! My sister is coming into town at 6AM from Las Vegas and we are going to get together with friends tonight. I have taken three days off next week, but I am not sure how much house work we are going to get done. :-) We are meeting with potential movers today at 9, and that will likely set a deadline for us. The most important thing we have not got set up yet is the invisible dog fence. The loop is buried, but I need to run about 300ft of wire from the front of the lot to the house to get it going. Whew! I love the new place. We have 3.6 acres and 2880 square feet! The dogs will love the land. I am curious how they will react to the invisible fence, but one of my coworkers has one and it sounds like it works really well once the dog is trained. My only other concern is that since the front of the lot will be open, that means that any critter can come in, but the dogs won't be able to go out. I also need to remember to turn off their collars before we take them anywhere in the car, since the fence goes under the driveway :-). | | Saturday, September 30th, 2006 | | 10:16 pm |
